India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup, India opted to bat first after winning the toss and struggled to find momentum on a tricky pitch. Despite a valiant 42 from Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue were restricted to a total of 119 runs in their allotted 19 overs. Pakistan’s pace attack, led by the fiery Naseem Shah (3/21) and the experienced Mohammed Amir (2/23), kept the Indian batsmen in check.
The Indian bowlers, in turn, produced a clinical performance to defend the modest total. Jasprit Bumrah, once again proving his mettle in high-pressure situations, was the wrecker-in-chief. He conceded a mere 14 runs in his four overs, picking up three crucial wickets. Arshdeep Singh also chipped in with two wickets at the death and ensuring victory for India.
Chasing a relatively low target, Pakistan started confidently. However, regular wickets at crucial junctures derailed their chase. Babar Azam, the Pakistani skipper, fell early, putting his team on the back foot. Mohammad Rizwan (38) and Shadab Khan (27) fought hard but could not lead their side to victory.
This win propels India to the top of their group in the T20 World Cup standings. Jasprit Bumrah deservedly won the Player of the Match award for his exceptional bowling performance. Both teams will now look to consolidate their positions in the tournament as they gear up for their upcoming fixtures.
