Famous YouTubers Dhruv Rathee and Gaurav Taneja found themselves embroiled in an intense social media spat recently. The dispute was triggered by a viral post related to the terms ‘India’ and ‘Bharat.’ Spiritual leader Sadhguru’s perspective on this matter further fueled the war of words between the two influencers.

The Trigger:

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) announced that both ‘India’ and ‘Bharat’ would be used in textbooks. This decision led to a heated debate about the significance of these terms.

Sadhguru’s Perspective:

Sadhguru, founder of the Isha Foundation, expressed his views on social media. He stated, “We should have reclaimed the name ‘Bharat’ when the British left our shores. A name will not do everything, but it is important that the country is named in a way that reverberates in everyone’s heart. Even though the Nation means everything to us, the word ‘India’ has no meaning. If we are unable or unwilling to change the name of the Nation officially, it is time we at least bring ‘Bharat’ into our daily parlance. Dhruv Rathee criticized Sadhguru’s stance, accusing him of playing a “dirty game of divide and rule.” He emphasized that both ‘India’ and ‘Bharat’ were already recognized in the Indian constitution.

Gaurav Taneja, in response to Dhruv Rathee, called him a ‘Dictator.’ He questioned why different opinions couldn’t coexist on the internet and criticized those who sought to control online content.
